Where the published story first began.
Before The Cracked Leather Couch had its own address, the earliest Brownstone stories were published on Substack.
The Brownstone has changed since then. Rooms have opened, characters have arrived, and the story has found a clearer shape. A few of the earliest Field Notes belonged to an earlier version of the project and have since been retired. Their original numbering remains part of the publication history, so the current reading list begins a little farther down the path.
What follows is the present beginning of the Brownstone story - the pieces that still belong to the world as it is being written now.
